CAREER PROSECUTOR, VICTIM RIGHTS ADVOCATE, AND LOCAL MOTHER KELLY MOLLER
ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN DISTRICT 42A
SHOREVIEW, MN—Career prosecutor, victim rights advocate, and local mother, Kelly Moller, announced that she will run for State Representative in House District 42A.
“As a State Representative, I will listen to the people of our district and be a voice for them with the same thoughtfulness, passion, and conviction that I have had as a prosecutor seeking justice,” Moller said.
“Although new to running for office, I’m not new to public service. I’ve built my career on working for a safer Minnesota,” Moller said. “I went to law school after friends shared with me that they were survivors of assault, and I’ve devoted myself to improving the system’s response to crime victims while also ensuring that the most dangerous offenders are held accountable. I’m ready to work for everyday Minnesotans at the Legislature, creating equal opportunities that allow all Minnesotans to reach their fullest potential.”
Moller is currently an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney and handles criminal appeals on behalf of the State of Minnesota. Moller graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a business degree and Hamline University School of Law. She worked for the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office for more than a decade before serving as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Alliance on Crime. Moller has been recognized by the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault for her work to secure victim privacy and by MADD for strengthening the hit-and-run law—something she did after the sister of a victim killed by a hit-and-run driver reached out to her. She is a member of the Minnesota County Attorney’s Association appellate committee and Shoreview’s public safety committee.
Moller and her husband, Kevin, who is a project manager at Boston Scientific in Arden Hills, have lived in Shoreview for nearly 20 years. Their two sons attend Mounds View Public Schools, where Moller has volunteered and served as member of the curriculum advisory committee. Moller believes every child in Minnesota deserves a top-notch education like the one provided by Mounds View schools. As a longtime member of St. Odilia Catholic Church, Moller has served on a ministry area council and taught children’s faith, internet and personal safety classes. She and her father have also coached children’s community sports teams together.
“I’m so thankful for this community and will do my part to make sure that Minnesota moves in a forward direction,” Moller said.
